A journey along Brazil’s northeastern coast connecting São Luís, Lençóis Maranhenses, Atins, the Parnaíba Delta, Barra Grande and Jericoacoara, combining spectacular landscapes with authentic experiences surrounded by nature. Over 9 days, the journey explores rivers, dunes, mangroves, beaches and lagoons, including a boat ride along the Preguiças River, the landscapes of the Lençóis Maranhenses, the spectacular Scarlet Ibis Flight in the Parnaíba Delta, and the beaches connecting Barra Grande to Jericoacoara. In Barra Grande, the experience takes on a special touch with the Camurupim River Route, a gentle kayaking experience that offers an intimate way to explore the river and its mangrove ecosystem. During the paddle, there are opportunities to stop for a swim, admire the local flora and fauna, and spot birds, fish and crustaceans. The experience concludes with a tasting of regional delicacies, including fruits, cashew nuts and cajuína, followed by a sparkling wine toast. A perfect combination of adventure, nature, culture and local flavors, ideal for travelers seeking to experience the diverse landscapes of Northeast Brazil in an active and authentic way.
Day 1 | São Luís do Maranhão
Reception at São Luís do Maranhão Airport and transfer to the selected hotel. Check-in at the hotel and the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2 | São Luís do Maranhão – Barreirinhas – Preguiças River – Atins
After breakfast, we will depart for Barreirinhas, in the Lençóis Maranhenses, on a journey of approximately 4 hours (which may take longer depending on the travel season). Upon arrival in Barreirinhas, we will board private speedboats known as voadeiras and travel along the Preguiças River to Atins Beach.
Along the way, palm trees and mangroves are home to birds, reptiles and mammals. Our first stop will be at Vassouras, one of the many points where the dunes of the Pequenos Lençóis meet the Preguiças River. Capuchin monkeys and parrots delight visitors who stop to cool off with cold drinks served in the shade of the local stalls.
We will continue by speedboat to the Mandacaru Lighthouse, located in the village of the same name. From the top of its eight floors, it offers a 360-degree view of the area's exuberant landscape. We will then continue to the village of Atins. Check-in at the guesthouse.
Day 3 | Atins – Canto do Atins
After breakfast, at 9:00 a.m., we will visit one of the main lagoon circuits in Atins. We will travel by regular shared jardineira 4x4 vehicle to the Canto do Atins lagoon circuit, visiting the best lagoons of the season, which may include Gavião Lagoon, Kite Lagoon, Gaivota Lagoon and Sete Mulheres Lagoon. There will be time for swimming and photographs.
We will stop for lunch (not included) at one of the restaurants in Canto do Atins, famous for their shrimp and grilled fish dishes. We will return to the guesthouse at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Day 4 | Atins – Pequenos Lençóis – Parnaíba Delta – Guará Bird Sunset Flight – Barra Grande
After breakfast (departure time determined by the day's tides), we will cross the Preguiças River by speedboat and say goodbye to the Lençóis aboard powerful 4x4 vehicles. Deserted beaches, fields and dunes make up the landscape along this stretch. We will pass through Paulino Neves, known for its bridge over the Rio Novo. Secondary roads will take us to Tutóia, where we will board a fast boat (LUGGAGE WILL TRAVEL ON THE BOAT) for a journey through the Parnaíba Delta and its majestic labyrinth of islands and mangroves. Our first stop will be on the Canárias Island for lunch (not included) at a local resident's restaurant, Raimundo Ayres, which serves traditional cuisine based on fish and locally raised meats. After lunch, we will continue to Caju Bay, located in the central area of the Parnaíba Delta. We will stop at Morro do Meio for a walk among the dunes and a swim in the river, with a beautiful landscape for photographs. After approximately 20 minutes, we will continue to the main highlight of the tour: the flight of the scarlet ibis, or guarás. A small island in the middle of the Delta receives thousands of birds at the end of the day as they return to their roosting island—a true spectacle of nature. We will return under a blanket of stars to the Tatus Port, where our vehicle will be waiting for a transfer of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to the hotel in Barra Grande.
Day 5 | Barra Grande – Seahorse Tour
After breakfast, we will experience a little of the local way of life with a delightful canoe and horse-drawn carriage tour to observe seahorses in the Cardoso River estuary.
Day 6 | Barra Grande – Camurupim River Route (Barra Grande Kayaking)
After breakfast, we will leave the hotel by horse-drawn carriage to the tour departure point, where we will begin a kayaking experience along the Camurupim River. We will paddle for approximately 1 hour, with opportunities to stop for swimming, photographs and observation of the local fauna and flora, including the mangrove ecosystem and the possibility of spotting birds, fish and crustaceans. At the end of the tour, there will be a tasting of regional delicacies, including a board with cold cuts, fruits, cashew nuts and cajuína, as well as a sparkling wine toast. To finish the experience, guests may return to the guesthouse by horse-drawn carriage or on foot.
Day 7 | Barra Grande – Jericoacoara: Via Beaches
After breakfast, we will depart for Jericoacoara, travelling 90 km on paved roads to the ferry crossing at the mouth of the Coreaú River in Camocim. We will cross by ferry to the white dunes and carnauba trees of Ilha do Amor.
The 4x4 vehicle will continue along the beachfront or through the forest trail to Tatajuba or Lago Grande, depending on the amount of water that day. We will enjoy the hammocks in the water and the seafood and fish dishes served at local restaurants. The second ferry crossing will take place at Guriú Beach, with its green-water channel and mangrove tree cemetery. We will continue along the beach to Jericoacoara. Overnight in Jericoacoara will provide an opportunity to enjoy the village's nightlife, restaurants, shops and bars.
Day 8 | Jericoacoara: West Side
Departure at 9:00 a.m., travelling approximately 15 minutes by buggy to Pedra do Frade. From there, there is a 30-minute walk along the beach or trail, depending on the tide. We will take photographs at Pedra Furada and then continue the tour, passing by the Preguiça Tree, Preá Beach, Buraco Azul (entrance fee not included), Lagoa Azul (raft crossing fee not included) and Lagoa do Paraíso, with a stop for lunch (not included).
Return to Jericoacoara through the Amâncio dunes. Tour duration: approximately 6 hours.

São Luís do Maranhão: The São Luís/Barreirinhas transfer time is informed the day before departure due to the route closure. Departure normally takes place between 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
Delays may occur due to other pick-ups. Please note that guests staying at hotels with earlier departures will not be able to have breakfast at the hotel. There will be a stop along the way for breakfast (not included in the transfer).
Barra Grande to Jericoacoara: As this journey takes place over sandy terrain, there will be a strategic stop in Camocim before the ferry crossing to adjust the tyre pressure.
Transfer from Jericoacoara to Fortaleza: departure 7 hours before the flight for domestic departures and 8 hours before the flight for international departures.
Please note the luggage allowance: 1 suitcase (23 kg) + 1 piece of hand luggage (9 kg) per person. Transportation of additional or overweight luggage will be charged separately.
Transfer along the Preguiças River: luggage will remain with the passenger throughout the entire speedboat journey.
During the low-season months (January to April and November to December), the Atins Lagoons Circuit on a regular service is subject to confirmation.
If the minimum number of participants is not reached, a private-service supplement per person will be required (upon request).
Jericoacoara: The order of visits may change according to natural conditions. The local driver will determine the alternatives.
Stop at Casa B&B for lunch (not included); the client pays directly at the establishment.
Camurupim River Route: Easy-level tour, suitable for beginners. Children from 7 years old may participate sharing a kayak with an adult, while participants from 12 years old may paddle independently. Not recommended for people with health conditions, elderly guests, etc.
Parnaíba Delta: We recommend always bringing a change of clothes and a beach cover-up or towel for the tour, as the return will take place at night.
Parnaíba Delta: Due to the tides, the logistics of the transfer and the Delta tour may be subject to change. If it is not possible to depart in the morning, departure will take place around lunchtime and the crossing of the Delta will be carried out during the Scarlet Ibis flight. Thus, the same tour may be operated in two different ways, depending on the tide.
The tide chart will determine the schedules and duration of each tour.
Camurupim River Route: This tour depends entirely on the tide, which determines the starting point of the kayaking route. Therefore, the route may begin at Pontal da Barra and end at Porto das Camboas, or be operated in the opposite direction. Depending on the time and the client's physical condition, a beach walk of approximately 25 minutes may be included.

The confirmation of the reservation implies the introduction into the system, by the CLIENTS, or by the TRAVEL AGENT, by automated or non-automated means, of personal identification data, and data related to credit and debit cards, which will be used to facilitate and enable the contracting and reservation of the specific services that make up the CLIENT’s request, as well as to provide information regarding products and services of COTUR S.A, hereinafter referred to as COTUR. Under no circumstances will information be requested about philosophical or political convictions, party or union membership, religious faith, private life, racial or ethnic origin as well as data relating to health and sexual life, including genetic data. PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA
Personal Data obtained through registration, by automated or non-automated means, are incorporated into an application owned by COTUR. Credit card data is used only for payment processing, and after the transaction is completed, it is deleted from our records, except when the CLIENT has authorized us to retain it. For security reasons applicable in certain countries, it is mandatory to include information regarding data such as name, passport number, gender, age, nationality in flight reservations. This information contained in the reservation may, under applicable law, namely based on Directive (EU) 2016/680 of the European Parliament and of the Council, be accessed by the competent authorities of the countries of origin or destination, for the purposes of prevention, investigation, detection, or repression of criminal offenses or the enforcement of criminal sanctions, and the free movement of such data and Directive (EU) 2016/681 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
COTUR accessing any personal data, undertakes to:
• Protect CLIENTS’ personal data through legally required security measures of a technical and organizational nature in order to prevent alteration, loss, treatment, or unauthorized access, in accordance with the state of the technology at any given time, the nature of the data, and the possible risks they are exposed to;
• Use or apply the data exclusively for the purposes duly provided;
• Ensure that the data are used only for the provision of the service, being obliged to maintain the duty of confidentiality. (ii) Any legal entity subsidiary or participated by COTUR or the company that provided the contracted service (hotels, water, land, rail, air transportation company, rental, etc.), so that they can use them for the correct provision of each service requested by the CLIENT.On the other hand, the CLIENT consents to access the information related to the service contracted with COTUR in order to offer additional services to the one contracted. Failure to respond to the data, considered mandatory, will imply the impossibility of accessing the service for which the data were requested. COTUR may disclose CLIENT information to third parties solely for the purpose of completing the requested reservation and for administrative reasons in accordance with the legislation in force for the realization of trips / services to certain countries.
